This statewide effort led by Caltrans encourages local engagement from Californians to make communities cleaner, safer, and more sustainable.<\/p>\n<p>Since July 2021, Clean California has funded 317 projects statewide, and Caltrans and its local partners have removed more than 3.8 million cubic yards of litter from highways and public spaces \u2013\u00a0<strong>the equivalent of filling about 180,000 residential garbage trucks with debris and trash.<\/strong>\u00a0Under Governor Newsom\u2019s leadership the program is also supporting California\u2019s long-term goals aimed at climate resilience, economic equity and public safety.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"et_pb_module et_pb_text et_pb_text_4 quote  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\">\n<p><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Across California, communities are stepping up to protect the places they call home \u2013 creating cleaner neighborhoods, greener public spaces, and a healthier environment for future generations. Caltrans encourages other communities to take the pledge.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Achieving the designation begins by taking the<a title=\"https:\/\/us.list-manage.com\/_11GACP9m8E?e=ad974c4bf8&amp;c2id=d413becc102531d8f67a44f85f1cd163\" href=\"https:\/\/us.list-manage.com\/_11GACP9m8E?e=ad974c4bf8&amp;c2id=d413becc102531d8f67a44f85f1cd163\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"4\">\u00a0Clean California pledge online<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 cities, counties, communities or organizations have up to one year to earn the designation. In order to earn the Clean California Community designation, entities must meet 10 of 15\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/us.list-manage.com\/Scl2fn1vEyA?e=ad974c4bf8&amp;c2id=d413becc102531d8f67a44f85f1cd163\" href=\"https:\/\/us.list-manage.com\/Scl2fn1vEyA?e=ad974c4bf8&amp;c2id=d413becc102531d8f67a44f85f1cd163\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"5\">specific criteria<\/a>\u00a0to demonstrate a long-term commitment to make and keep their communities cleaner.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Clean CA program highlights include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">More than 650 free dump days hosted in urban and rural communities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Collection of 15,500-plus mattresses.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Picking up more than 57,000 used tires.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Drawn more than 10,000 community clean-up volunteers<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Created 18,267 jobs, including positions for individuals who were formerly incarcerated or experiencing housing insecurity.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">For more information and to pledge online today, visit\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/us.list-manage.com\/qdHEU8tdphW?e=ad974c4bf8&amp;c2id=d413becc102531d8f67a44f85f1cd163\" href=\"https:\/\/us.list-manage.com\/qdHEU8tdphW?e=ad974c4bf8&amp;c2id=d413becc102531d8f67a44f85f1cd163\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"6\">CleanCA.com\/designation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sacramento, CA&#8230;Governor Gavin Newsom celebrates the milestone of 100 communities and organizations across the Golden State having earned the prestigious Clean California\u00a0Community designation.
