Born on June 25,1946 in San Francisco, CA to Robert W. Smith and Betty Cambra (Doctor). Kirk grew up with a passion for sports including scuba diving and skiing.  Always handy, Kirk had a penchant for home improvement projects.  <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/smith.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/smith.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"490\" height=\"550\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-204524\" srcset=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/smith.jpg 490w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/smith-267x300.jpg 267w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 490px) 100vw, 490px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He served in the U.S. Navy and after graduating from Linfield University in Oregon, Kirk spent a career working as an administrator for several public agencies including Amador, Placer and Calaveras Counties. <\/p>\n<p>Engaged with his community, Kirk served on the West Point cemetery board, volunteered as a historian of West Point and loved giving tours of the town.  He was proud the Smith family can trace roots to West Point going back to the 1880\u2019s. <\/p>\n<p>Kirk\u2019s sense of humor and generous spirit will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. Kirk is survived by his spouse Yvonne; brother Creighton, sister-in-law Lynn, children Matthew and Bradley; and five grandchildren. <\/p>\n<p>A celebration of life service will be held on September 20, 2026 at 1:00PM at the West Point cemetery and Veterans of Foreign Wars building at 202 Spink Road, West Point, CA. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>West Point, CA&#8230;Kirk Willard Smith, age 80, of West Point, California, passed away peacefully on August 3rd 2026.
