Tuolumne, Calaveras & Alpine Counties, CA…The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will have a temporary road closure in place this week on State Route 108 East (Sonora Pass) due to incoming weather conditions. The eastbound closure will be set at Kennedy Meadows, and the westbound closure will be at Brownie Creek beginning Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Caltrans will continue to keep SR-108 \/ Sonora Pass in intermittent closure status until our maintenance crews can reassess the roadway to safely reopen to motorists.<\/p>\n

ALPINE COUNTY \u2013 The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will have a temporary closure in place this week on State Route 89 (Monitor Pass) due to incoming weather conditions. The eastbound closure will be set at the State Route 4\/89 junction beginning Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Caltrans will continue to keep SR-89 \/ Monitor Pass in intermittent closure status until our maintenance crews can reassess the roadway to safely reopen to motorists.<\/p>\n

For the latest road condition information, tune your radio to the Caltrans Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) at 530 AM, 1610 AM or 1670 AM, or call the Caltrans Road Condition Hotline at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623). Changeable Message Signs (CMS) will display information regarding the pass closures for motorists.<\/p>\n
