<\/p>\nMountain Ranch, CA…Almost $1,000 was raised by three area high school drama students recently who wanted to help survivors of the Butte Fire. \u201cThis is a wonderful, compassionate gesture,\u201d said Allen Sender, Chairman of Calaveras Recovers, as he accepted the check on behalf of the all-volunteer group. Calaveras Recovers is the long-term, post disaster recovery organization focused on helping rebuild homes for the uninsured or underinsured families affected by last year\u2019s devastating fire…<\/p>\n

Drama students at Calaveras High School (CHS) in San Andreas, and Amador and Argonaut high schools in Amador County, organized a theater production as a fund-raiser on behalf of Butte Fire survivors. All the proceeds from their performance held this Spring at the CHS Performing Arts Center were donated to Calaveras Recovers.
\n\u201cThis money will go toward supplies that are needed to finish each house,\u201d said Sender. Currently, two homes are under construction with almost all work being donated by area contractors. Another home will break ground in August with another five homes planned for this Fall.<\/p>\n
After a recent two week-long event hosted by the Red Cross of the Gold Country, it was determined that 59 homes will need to be rebuilt for families with limited insurance at the time of last September\u2019s wildfire.
