{"id":32287,"date":"2017-01-23T09:19:35","date_gmt":"2017-01-23T17:19:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/69.46.6.243\/?p=32287"},"modified":"2017-01-23T09:19:35","modified_gmt":"2017-01-23T17:19:35","slug":"community-volunteer-tree-planning-session-january-28th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/?p=32287","title":{"rendered":"Community Volunteer Tree Planning Session, January 28th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sonora, CA&#8230;Stanislaus National Forest and the Tuolumne River Trust are hosting a community volunteer tree planning information session at 6 p.m., Jan. 28 at the Forest Service headquarters, 19777 Greenley Road, Sonora.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/usfslogo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/usfslogo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"225\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8368\" srcset=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/usfslogo.jpg 200w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/usfslogo-150x169.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Rim Fire of 2013 burned more than 257,000 acres on the Stanislaus National Forest. \u201cWe want the community to help us reforest areas that won\u2019t grow trees on their own,\u201d said Maria Benech, Rim Fire restoration coordinator.  \u201cWe hope people will come to plant trees next month and this information session will explain why and how the planting will be done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Rim Fire started on August 17, 2013, in a remote area of the Stanislaus National Forest near the confluence of the Clavey and Tuolumne Rivers about 20 miles east of Sonora, California, becoming the third largest wildfire in California history.  The Forest\u2019s overall goal is to re-establish a conifer forest in order to contribute to an ecologically healthy and resilient landscape that is rich in biodiversity.
