{"id":33462,"date":"2017-02-09T14:49:38","date_gmt":"2017-02-09T22:49:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/69.46.6.243\/?p=33462"},"modified":"2017-02-09T14:49:38","modified_gmt":"2017-02-09T22:49:38","slug":"caltrans-releases-draft-state-bicycle-pedestrian-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/?p=33462","title":{"rendered":"Caltrans Releases Draft State Bicycle &#038; Pedestrian Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sacramento, CA&#8230;Caltrans has released for public review the draft State Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan, which lays out the policies and actions Caltrans and its partner agencies should take to achieve the department\u2019s ambitious statewide goals to double walking and triple bicycling trips by 2020.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/ct_logo_trans.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/ct_logo_trans.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25236\" srcset=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/ct_logo_trans.png 200w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/ct_logo_trans-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/ct_logo_trans-30x30.png 30w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cActive transportation is at the nexus of many of our state\u2019s goals, from public health and reducing greenhouse gas emissions to fostering economic development and a sustainable multimodal transportation system,\u201d said Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty. \u201cIn this plan we are identifying the strategies and actions we can take to create better opportunities for bicycling and walking to thrive across California.\u201d   <\/p>\n<p>The draft plan, entitled \u201cToward an Active California, State Bicycle + Pedestrian Plan,\u201d describes four objectives\u2014safety, mobility, preservation and social equity\u2014with corresponding strategies to bring the plan to reality. The Plan\u2019s intent is to complement local and regional efforts already underway to create and implement their own active transportation networks. The Plan also highlights best practices from places around the world where active networks are increasingly popular.<\/p>\n<p>Caltrans encourages stakeholders and the general public to review the Plan and provide feedback on the document. Stakeholder feedback is critical to ensure that the policies developed through this Plan reflect the diverse needs of all communities throughout the State.<\/p>\n<p>Feedback can be provided during February meetings and webinars that will be held on-line and around the state. In addition, the public may review the plan and submit feedback electronically via a simple online comment tool.
