…Another strong storm hits northern California through
\nTuesday…<\/p>\n
.A stronger weather system will move through northern California
\nthrough Tuesday. It will bring periods of strong winds and heavy
\nsnow to the higher elevations. A period of higher snow levels
\ntoday will limit snow impacts to near passes and higher but snow
\nlevels will fall again by Tuesday morning. If traveling through
\nthe Sierra Cascade range expect chain controls, long delays and
\npossible closures. Mudslides and rockslides could impact mountain
\nroads making them impassable for a day or more.<\/p>\n

…WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PST
\nTUESDAY…<\/p>\n
* Main impacts: travelers may experience long delays. Chain
\n controls likely. Poor visibility due to snow and strong
\n southwest wind gusts over 60 mph will make travel hazardous.
\n Mudslides also possible across steeper terrain.<\/p>\n
* Confidence…High.<\/p>\n
* Locations…Interstate 80 over Donner pass, Highway 50 over
\n Echo summit, Highway 88 over Carson pass, and Lassen park.<\/p>\n
* Timing…periods of heavy snow through Tuesday evening before
\n dropping off to lighter snow Tuesday night.<\/p>\n
* Snow amounts…up to a foot of snow expected down to about
\n 5500 feet with 2 to 5 feet of snow possible above 6000 feet
\n between today and Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n
* Snow levels…snow levels around 7000 feet dropping on Tuesday
\n to between 4000 and 5000 feet.<\/p>\n
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
\nconditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
\nsnow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
\nan emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food,
\nand water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Strong winds
\nare also possible. This will make travel very hazardous or
\nimpossible.<\/p>\n

* From 3 PM this afternoon to midnight PST tonight<\/p>\n
* Excessive heavy rainfall south of the Interstate 80 corridor is
\n anticipated to develop this afternoon and evening.<\/p>\n
* Potential impacts include fast rises to rivers and streams, land
\n slides, fast flowing water over roadways, and washed out roads.<\/p>\n

* Interior Northern California will experience another significant
\n uptick in flooding problems starting late tonight and continuing
\n through Monday night as an intense Atmospheric River type storm
\n arrives.<\/p>\n
* Our entire region has saturated soils and many flooded areas
\n already. This will enhance the impact of additional heavy rains
\n this week.<\/p>\n
* Additional stress will be placed on levees, rivers, creeks, and
\n streams.<\/p>\n
* We may see flooding in locations which haven`t been impacted in
\n many years.<\/p>\n
* We are strongly advising all residents in interior Northern
\n California to be prepared for flooding.<\/p>\n

Be prepared to evacuate if flooding should affect your area. Gather
\na “go bag” with important items like medications and hard to replace
\ndocuments. Do not forget to plan for you pets and animals.<\/p>\n
