No snow accumulation lower elevations&#8230;up to 1 inch higher elevations. Snow level 7000 feet. Prevailing south winds 5 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Gusts up to 40 mph. Over ridges&#8230;prevailing south winds 25 to 40 mph.  Tonight  Rain at lower elevations&#8230;and rain and snow at higher elevations. Windy, colder. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in<br \/>\neffect.<\/p>\n<p>* CONFIDENCE&#8230;High.<\/p>\n<p>* Timing&#8230;Approaching storm will bring heavy snow starting this<br \/>\n  evening with heavier snowfall amounts Friday through Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>* MAIN IMPACT&#8230;Heavy snow will create mountain travel delays and<br \/>\n  chain controls, and may result in road closures.<\/p>\n<p>* LOCATIONS&#8230;Interstate 80 over Donner Pass, Highway 50 over Echo<br \/>\n  Summit, Highway 88 over Carson Pass and Lassen Volcanic National<br \/>\n  Park.<\/p>\n<p>* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS&#8230;6 to 12 inches of snow expected above 4500<br \/>\n  feet with 2 to 4 feet of snow expected above 6000 feet.<\/p>\n<p>* Other impacts&#8230;High wind gusts up to 60 mph will create<br \/>\n  periods of white out conditions with very low visibility in<br \/>\n  heavy snowfall.
