Emerson To Begin Construction Of Retaining Walls On Hwy 4 Near Big Trees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Arnold, CA&#8230;The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is preparing to begin a project that will install retaining walls along State Route 4 (SR-4) near Calaveras Big Trees State Park. The project will install retaining walls for sediment control, improve culverts and drainage, and re-construct roadside shoulders along a half-mile segment of SR-4, just west of the entrance to Big Trees State Park. Work is scheduled to begin during the week of April 16, 2017 and be completed in Fall 2017.  One-way traffic control will be used and motorists should expect 10-20 minute delays. Work is scheduled to be done mostly in the day.  This $7.3 million project has been awarded to K.W.
