The candidates are:<\/p>\n
* Regina Bateson, a political scientist who joined the State Department after 9\/11
\nas a foreign service officer in South America (www.bateson4congress.com).<\/p>\n
* Roza Calderon, a geoscientist expert in agricultural land management who
\narrived in the U.S. as a 2-year-old political refugee (www.electroza.org).<\/p>\n
* Jessica Morse, a security strategist for 10 years with the State Department and
\nUSAID who has hiked the length of CD-04 (www.morse4congress.com).<\/p>\n
* Rochelle Wilcox, an appeals lawyer raised by a single mother whose tight budget
\nincluded food stamps, school lunches, and public school (www.rochelle2018.com).<\/p>\n
\u201cVoters in CD-04 are fortunate to have capable, approachable candidates willing to
\nfight for our district,\u201d Lowell said. \u201cOur farmers are directly affected by changing
\nclimate, the impact on water resources, extreme heat, and other vital issues, yet in
\nCongress we see only votes against rural healthcare. It\u2019s unacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n
CD-04\u2019s five-term Rep. Tom McClintock has passed three bills in 9 years (two to
\nrename post offices) and drew national attention this year when he abruptly left a
\ntown hall meeting as constituents objected in loud voices to his positions including
\nrepealing healthcare and building a Mexican border wall.<\/p>\n
The district is immense, made up of six rural counties and parts of four more, and
\nis home to 722,313 people, ranches, farms, vineyards, gold rush towns, four
\nglorious national parks, forests, lakes and tall mountains.<\/p>\n
