Sometimes we forget that threatening harm, such as a strike, is a form of extortion which is de\ufb01ned as: “The obtaining of property from another induced by wrongful use of actual or threatened force, violence, or fear, or under color of of\ufb01cial right.” In this case, the victim seems to be the taxpayer. How many parents would want their children taught by a teacher who condoned extortion?<\/p>\n

If we would again teach civics in the schools, both teachers and students could learn that the fundamental law in society is to keep your agreements and respect the rights of others. From this comes common law and sometimes political law. <\/p>\n
Our Constitution, with great wisdom, de\ufb01nes human rights as “life, liberty and property”. Perhaps our founding fathers in creating our Constitution discovered for the first time in human history, the perfect blend of morality and historical wisdom.<\/p>\n
Bottom line, if you do not agree with your employer and can not resolve the issues, you should find work elsewhere – but never resort to extortion.<\/p>\n
