Since taking office, Governor Brown has signed the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/news.php?id=17268\">California Dream Act<\/a>, which allows top students who are on the path to citizenship to apply for college financial aid and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/news.php?id=18246\">AB 60<\/a>, which extends the legal right to drive on the state&#8217;s roadways to millions more Californians. The Governor has also signed legislation to help fund\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/news.php?id=18734\">legal services<\/a>\u00a0for unaccompanied minors arriving in California from Central America as well as legal services to assist immigrants seeking naturalization and deportation defense; legislation to extend\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/news.php?id=19160\">health care coverage<\/a>and other protections to undocumented children in the state; and a number of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/news.php?id=18253\">other bills<\/a>\u00a0to enhance protections for immigrants.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the Governor appointed a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/news.php?id=19340\">director of immigrant integration<\/a>\u00a0to serve as the statewide lead for coordinating immigrant services and monitoring the implementation of immigration assistance programs.
