Angels Camp, CA…On October 26, 2017 at approximately 9:45 AM, an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department observed a Jeep Wrangler driving northbound on Hwy 49 near Copello Drive without a front license plate, and the vehicle\u2019s oversized tires were protruding beyond the vehicle\u2019s fenders by more than 3 inches. The officer stopped the vehicle on Hwy 49 near Carol Kennedy Drive.<\/p>\n

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 41 year old Murphys resident, Christopher Friday. Friday was found to be driving on a suspended license and was issued a citation for driving without a valid license.<\/p>\n

Prior to inventorying the vehicle’s contents and impounding the vehicle, an Angels Camp PD K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. While inventorying the vehicle the officer located a handgun that was reported stolen in an out of county burglary, a second unregistered handgun, 2 knives, 10 syringes, a large rubber band, .3 grams of methamphetamine, ammunition, a digital scale, and a marijuana smoking pipe. Due to follow-up investigation related to the recovered stolen handgun, additional details cannot be released at this time.<\/p>\n

Friday was arrested and booked in to the Calaveras County Jail for the following offenses:<\/p>\n
