Rounding out the day\u2019s events from 5:00 pm \u2013 7:00 pm, enjoy an opening reception at Petroglyphe Gallery for artist Doug Lawler\u2019s \u201cThe Island of ZA, A Fable Without Words\u201d Chapters Two and Three.<\/p>\n
Take someone\u2019s hand and follow the enchanting adventures that artist Doug Lawler has imagined, of a girl and a dog whose lives constantly become complicated, in a place with magic in the air, on a mythical island. Viewers will be taken away into their own realm in a fable without words by the artist who encourages this journey through fine art dry point etchings. This exhibition will be a preview of The Island of ZA, Chapters Two and Three, consisting of roughly 70 images The exhibit will be available for viewing\u00a0through February 18, 2018. The complete story will be told in soft sepia images with one color foldout in his soon to be published book The Island of ZA, A Fable Without Words.<\/p>\n
Doug Lawler, began his wordless fable nearly 2 years ago, creating a voyage that takes the viewer deep into a shapeshifting world through at least 100 finely detailed, complex, sepia-toned, dry point etchings. Lawler enchants us with a magical girl, a mischievous dog, and images on a mysterious island evoking fear, bewilderment and wonder. Our hearts take this journey along with the characters in this fantastical fictional world.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy intent was that the story to be simple and complex at the same time. But most importantly, that it might delight those of us who enjoy a good adventure.\u201d — Doug Lawler<\/p>\n
