West Point, CA…On 06\/05\/15 at about 0700 hours, the Calaveras County Sheriff\u2019s Department responded to a report of an assault on the 23000 block of Highway 26, in West Point. Deputies arrived on scene and observed a 19 year old male who had sustained defensive injuries in attempt to protect himself from a knife attack. Suspect Michael Mendibles was allegedly intoxicated when he confronted the victim, made several threats, and attempted to stab the victim.<\/p>\n
The victim was able to wrestle the knives away from Michael Mendibles, who then left the area and later returned with a bow and arrow. Michael Mendibles was attempting to draw the bow when the victim escaped through a window. The victim notified the Sheriff\u2019s Department. The victim received minor injuries as a result of the attack. Suspect Michael Mendibles was placed under arrest for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and battery; bail was set at $510,000.
