Arnold, CA…William Robert McClure,\u00a0AKA Bill:\u00a0The Man, The Myth, The Legend,\u00a0of Arnold, CA, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the age of 76. Bill was born to parents Charlie Edward McClure and Dora Bell Stokes on January 24, 1942 in El Monte, CA. He grew up in Stockton CA, moved to Oregon and was known as \u201cSquirrel\u201d for his speed on the football\u00a0field\u00a0at Eagle Point High School, where he graduated in the class of 1959.\u00a0Bill was in the Army and Air Force\u00a0Reserves, then graduated from Oregon Technical Institute. \u00a0He was proud\u00a0of his career as\u00a0a land surveyor\u00a0in Northern California.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0later\u00a0moved to Arnold, CA, where he was a devoted 38-year member of the\u00a0Ebbetts\u00a0Pass Moose Lodge and chairman of the Bingo program, which raises money for worthy charities.\u00a0Bill was known in the community as \u201cBingo Bill,\u201d and, \u201clike a character from a Mark Twain story.\u201d \u00a0He will be greatly missed by friends throughout the town of Arnold for his larger than life personality and\u00a0the\u00a0ability to make anyone laugh.<\/p>\n

Bill was preceded in death by his parents;\u00a0his sister, Judith;his daughter Catherine Gibson and daughter-in-law Clarisse Gibson.<\/p>\n

Bill is survived by the love of his life:\u00a0his wife\u00a0of 32 years,Evelyn;\u00a0his brother Ralph (Shirley) McClure;\u00a0his children Robert (Shelly) McClure, Andrea (Dustin)\u00a0Finck, Jean (Brad) Oskey, EJ Gibson, and Sarah (Tim) Oskey;\u00a0and\u00a0Grandchildren Pamela Gibson, Tiffany McClure,\u00a0Donovan\u00a0Finck,\u00a0Chris Boyett, Rebecca Boyett,\u00a0Casey (Josh)\u00a0Hopwood,\u00a0Kelsey Oskey,\u00a0Nic\u00a0Jonson,\u00a0Alyssa Oskey, Alayna Oskey;Great-Grand\u00a0children: Alex, Trinity &\u00a0Selene;\u00a0and his\u00a0beloved\u00a0dog Snoopy.<\/p>\n

Bill will be remembered for his affinity for large belt buckles, his collection of baseball caps,\u00a0and his red coffee cup\u00a0– which contained\u00a0his signature mixture of coffee, cereal and juice.\u00a0He was a devoted 49er\u00a0fan and loved any chance to bragabout his kids and grandkids.<\/p>\n

A memorial service will be held\u00a0March 16 at 2 pm\u00a0at the\u00a0Ebbetts\u00a0Pass Moose Lodge. \u00a0In\u00a0lieu\u00a0of flowers,\u00a0the family requests\u00a0donations to the\u00a0Ebbetts\u00a0Pass Moose Lodge in Bill\u2019s honor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
