Brown Jr. today issued the following statement on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency\u2019s decision to weaken clean vehicle emissions standards: \u201cWatch out for this belated April Fools\u2019 Day trick. This cynical and meretricious abuse of power will poison our air and jeopardize the health of all Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Edmund_G_Brown_Jr.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"330\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15766\" srcset=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Edmund_G_Brown_Jr.jpg 220w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Edmund_G_Brown_Jr-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 220px) 100vw, 220px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The U.S. EPA\u2019s own analysis shows the national clean car standards benefit all consumers by reducing fuel costs and the environment by reducing greenhouse gas pollution.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Governor Brown wrote a letter to U.S. EPA Administrator Pruitt calling President Trump\u2019s decision to review emissions standards for cars \u201can unconscionable gift to polluters\u201d that \u201cput the interests of big oil ahead of clean air and politics ahead of science.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>California also previously intervened in a lawsuit filed by the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers. The lawsuit challenged the U.S. EPA\u2019s January 2017 determination that the vehicle emission standards for years 2022 to 2025 are feasible.<\/p>\n<p>    ###<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sacramento, CA&#8230;Governor Edmund G.
