The 6.5-mile stretch of road has been closed since violent storms whipped through the region on March 22, causing hillslides and heavy flooding in parts of Tuolumne and Mariposa counties. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zACaqF3vVcw\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Caltrans and George Reed Construction of Modesto have completed major repairs on SR-49 and highway striping was refreshed today. SR-49 in Tuolumne County will have periodic one-way traffic controls for culvert work the next few weeks, so expect occasional delays as work proceeds. Repair work on SR-49 in Tuolumne County is estimated at $2.5 million to $3 million.<\/p>\n<p>Severe damage from the storm also forced SR-49 in northern Mariposa County and SR-132 in eastern Stanislaus County to close.
