A 34 year old Sonora resident was driving a 1996 Honda Civic, eastbound on State Route 108, ahead of Hughes.  For unknown reasons, the driver of the Civic drove onto the right shoulder and immediately initiated a U-turn directly into Hughes path.  Subsequently, the front of the logging truck struck the left side of the Civic.  <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/chpson.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37822\" srcset=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/chpson.jpg 200w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/chpson-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/chpson-30x30.jpg 30w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The driver of the Civic was properly restrained but tragically sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision.  Hughes was properly restrained and did not sustain any injuries.  <\/p>\n<p>Alcohol and\/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
