THE PRESIDENT: Not good. We\u2019re not happy about it at all. Not at all. We\u2019ve let our position be known, and we\u2019re not happy about it.  Q Have you reached a deal with Mexico to hold migrants at the border?  THE PRESIDENT: Well, Mexico wants to see if they can get it straightened out. But we\u2019ve, during certain times, as you know, closed the border. They\u2019re not coming into the United States. They will not be coming into our country.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PvuGbuplHzk\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Q Mr. President, what\u2019s your reaction to General Motors (inaudible) in Ohio?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: Well, we don\u2019t like it. I believe they\u2019ll be opening up something else. And \u2014 I was very tough. I spoke with her when I heard they were closing. And I said, \u201cYou know, this country has done a lot for General Motors. You better get back in there soon. That\u2019s Ohio, and you better get back in there soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So we have a lot of pressure on them. You have senators, you have a lot of other people \u2014 a lot of pressure. They say the Chevy Cruze is not selling well. I say, \u201cWell, then get somebody \u2014 get a car that is selling well and put it back in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So I think you\u2019re going to see something else happen there, but I\u2019m not happy about it. Their car is not selling well. So they\u2019ll put something else \u2014 I have no doubt that, in a not-too-distant future, they\u2019ll put something else. They better put something else in.<\/p>\n<p>Q Sir, last night, in a response to the \u201c60 Minutes\u201d report, you said \u2014<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: Jon, go ahead.<\/p>\n<p>Q Mr. President, have you read the climate report yet?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: I\u2019ve seen it, I\u2019ve read some of it, and it\u2019s fine.<\/p>\n<p>Q They say economic impact could be devastating \u2014 of climate change.<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: Yeah. I don\u2019t believe it.<\/p>\n<p>Q You don\u2019t believe it?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: No. No. I don\u2019t believe it. And here\u2019s the other thing \u2014 you\u2019re going to have to have China, and Japan, and all of Asia, and all of these other countries \u2014 you know, it \u2014 it addresses our country.<\/p>\n<p>Right now, we\u2019re at the cleanest we\u2019ve ever been, and that\u2019s very important to me. But if we\u2019re clean but every other place on Earth on is dirty, that\u2019s not so good.<\/p>\n<p>So I want clean air. I want clean water. Very important.<\/p>\n<p>Q Mr. President, two questions for you, sir. Are you comfortable teargassing children like what we saw at the border this weekend?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: They\u2019re not. As you know, they\u2019re not. They had to use because they were being rushed by some very tough people, and they used tear gas. And here\u2019s the bottom line: Nobody is coming into our country unless they come in legally.<\/p>\n<p>Go ahead.<\/p>\n<p>Q Mr. President, I have a question about \u2014 you\u2019re going to Mississippi. Tell me a little bit about what you think about Senator Hyde-Smith\u2019s comments about \u2014 her comments about hanging? Her \u2014<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: Well, I know her. I know her. And I know she apologized and she misspoke. But I will tell you this: I\u2019ve known her, for a period of time now, as a senator. She\u2019s been an excellent senator; she\u2019s done a great job. She\u2019s somebody that\u2019s respected in the Senate. And I\u2019m going there \u2014 I\u2019m going to make, I guess, two rallies, on top of everything else. So we\u2019re going to do two, and I hope you\u2019re all coming.<\/p>\n<p>Q Have you talked to her specifically \u2014 have you talked to her specifically about her comments about joking about \u2014<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: I have. I have.<\/p>\n<p>Q What did you say to her?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: She felt very badly. She certainly didn\u2019t mean that. And, you know, it was taken a certain way, but she certainly didn\u2019t mean it. And as I understand it, she\u2019s already apologized and very strongly.<\/p>\n<p>Q Sir, last night \u2014 in response to last night\u2019s \u201c60 Minutes\u201d piece, you said your policy at the border was the same as the Obama administration\u2019s. It wasn\u2019t. You decided to prosecute \u2014<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: Say it again. What?<\/p>\n<p>Q In response to last night\u2019s \u201c60 Minutes\u201d report \u2014<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: Yeah, so I\u2019ll tell you what. Obama had a separation policy; we all had the same policy.<\/p>\n<p>Q You did not have \u2014 sir, no, you didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: I tried to do it differently, but Obama had a separation policy. But people don\u2019t like to talk about that.<\/p>\n<p>Q Sir, it was different. You decided to prosecute everyone at the border.<\/p>\n<p>Q What\u2019s your reaction to the Brexit deal that the EU and Britain (inaudible)?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: Sounds like a great deal for the EU. And I think we have to do this \u2014<\/p>\n<p>Q (Inaudible.)<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: I think we have to take a look at, seriously, whether or not the UK is allowed to trade. Because, you know, right now, if you look at the deal, they may not be able to trade with us, and that wouldn\u2019t be a good thing. I don\u2019t think they meant that. I don\u2019t think that the Prime Minister meant that, and hopefully she\u2019ll be able to do something about that.<\/p>\n<p>But, right now, as the deal stands, she may not \u2014 they may not be able to trade with the U.S. And I don\u2019t think they want that at all. That would be a very big negative for the deal.<\/p>\n<p>Q And what did you say earlier about the Russia-Ukraine (inaudible) dispute?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: We do not like what\u2019s happening either way. We don\u2019t like what\u2019s happening. And hopefully, it will get straightened out. I know Europe is not \u2014 they are not thrilled. They\u2019re working on it too. We\u2019re all working on it together.<\/p>\n<p>Q Is it okay to use tear gas on children?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: We didn\u2019t. We don\u2019t use it on children.<\/p>\n<p>Q (Inaudible.)<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: What?<\/p>\n<p>Q (Inaudible) talk to Mary Barra at General Motors?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: I did. I spoke to her and I expressed the fact that I am not happy with what she did. You know, the United States saved General Motors, and for her to take that company out of Ohio is not good. I think she\u2019s going to put something back in soon. That car is not selling. It\u2019s a Cruze \u2014 Chevy Cruze. It\u2019s not selling.<\/p>\n<p>But hopefully, she\u2019s going to come back and she\u2019s going to put something. But I told her I\u2019m not happy about it at all.<\/p>\n<p>Q (Inaudible.)<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: No, not tariffs. It had nothing to do with tariffs. She said the car was not selling.<\/p>\n<p>Q Are you looking forward to a deal with Xi Jinping this week in Argentina? We\u2019re all going to go down to cover you down there. Are you going to make a deal, do you think?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: Which one? With China?<\/p>\n<p>Q With Xi Jinping of China?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: I could. I mean, it could happen. We have a good relationship.<\/p>\n<p>Q What do you think \u2014<br \/>\nTHE PRESIDENT: Here\u2019s what the bottom line is: China has to treat us fairly. They haven\u2019t been.
