THE PRESIDENT:  So, we\u2019ve been in touch with a lot of people, and I informed my folks to say that we\u2019ll build a steel barrier.  Steel.  It\u2019ll be made out of steel.  It\u2019ll be less obtrusive, and it\u2019ll be stronger.  But it\u2019ll be less obtrusive, stronger, and we\u2019re able to use our great companies to make it, by using steel.  So we\u2019re going to be doing a steel barrier, and that gives us great strength at the border.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-O-XYKNzLmY\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Q    (Inaudible) DACA at all?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT:  I would consider DACA, but I think we\u2019d complicate it.  I\u2019d rather have the Supreme Court rule and then work with the Democrats on DACA.  I want to help with DACA, but I\u2019d rather have \u2014 because, you know, it\u2019s going to be before the Supreme Court very soon.  And rather than doing something with DACA \u2014 now, frankly, I\u2019d rather work with the Democrats.  Let the Supreme Court rule first.<\/p>\n<p>Q    (Inaudible) calling it a national emergency.  (Inaudible)?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT:  No, we\u2019re looking at a national emergency, because we have a national emergency.  Just read the papers.  We have a crisis at the border of drugs, of human beings being trafficked all over the world.  They\u2019re coming through.  And we have an absolute crisis, and of criminals and gang members coming through.  It is national security.  It\u2019s a national emergency.<\/p>\n<p>Q    (Inaudible.)<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT:  We\u2019ll be letting you know fairly soon.<\/p>\n<p>Q    If you were to declare a national emergency, how would you pay for the wall?  Where would the money come from?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT:  Well, we have a lot of different ways.  I\u2019m not going to get into that.  I\u2019m just saying, we are looking at it very strongly, but hopefully we can do it this way.  And as I told you, it\u2019s going to be a steel border, and that\u2019s going to give us great strength.<\/p>\n<p>Q    Why do you think the Democrats would agree to a steel border?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT:  They don\u2019t like concrete, so we\u2019ll give them steel.  Steel is fine.  Steel is actually \u2014 steel is actually more expensive than concrete, but it will look beautiful and it\u2019s very strong.  It\u2019s actually stronger.<\/p>\n<p>Q    You said government workers will make an adjustment if (inaudible).<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT:  I think they will make an adjustment because they want to see the border taken care of.  You know, government workers want to see the border taken care of.  It affects them very dearly.<\/p>\n<p>Q    But most of them make $500 a week.  (Inaudible) to make an adjustment.<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT:  They love our country, and they want to make sure that we have a strong border.<\/p>\n<p>Q    (Inaudible) most of them are Democrats, sir?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT:  Say it?<\/p>\n<p>Q    You\u2019re saying that most of the people are Democrats (inaudible).<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT:  I don\u2019t know if Democrats or not.  Probably, in this case, a lot of them are Democrats.  You have a lot of Republicans too.  But regardless \u2014 I mean, that\u2019s the way it is.  Those people are great Americans.  They\u2019re great patriots.  They want to make sure we have a strong border.  Very important.<\/p>\n<p>Q    (Inaudible.)<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT:  Well, we\u2019re looking at everything.<\/p>\n<p>Q    What do you say to Americans who (inaudible)?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT:  It\u2019ll all work out.  What we need is we need a strong border.  We have criminals coming in.  We have human traffickers coming in.  We have drugs pouring in.  We have things happening that you don\u2019t want to even know about.  And it\u2019s been that way for decades, and we can\u2019t have it anymore.  And because of the strength of our economy \u2014 the stronger it is \u2014 it\u2019s probably the greatest economy we\u2019ve ever had.  And because of that, it\u2019s happening even more so.
