\nJimbo was born in Memphis, Tennessee and raised in Oakland, CA, while Grover grew up in the gold rush town of Murphys, CA. Though their journeys have been very different, both upbringings were steeped in traditions of folk, roots, country, bluegrass and rock. After sampling each others\u2019 music at the open mic, they began holding a weekly jam session, and in time wrote their first song together, \u201cPick Up Your Horn.\u201d They booked a tour through the western US together in Summer 2014, and while they\u2019d originally intended to play individual sets, they soon found themselves playing extended sets backing each other up. They returned and booked a six-month residency in San Francisco, where they played and experimented for people three hours a week, forging a powerful musical bond.<\/p>\nAs Freight, Jimbo & Grover put on a show much greater than the sum of their parts. Joined in a full band setting by Josh Certo and Marshall Henry, as well as Jimbo\u2019s impressive beard, their harmonies and energy are lighting up the Northern California music scene.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
