The session begins at 11 a.m. in the MTMC Education Center with a free lunch to follow.  \u201cA Plan 4 Me\u201d workshops provide access to information that can help to address everyday situations, as well as identifying and preventing health issues. It also creates opportunities for MTMC to showcase staff experience and depth of knowledge.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/marktwainmedicalcenter.org\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/plan4me319.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"1159\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-76126\" srcset=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/plan4me319.jpg 640w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/plan4me319-166x300.jpg 166w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/plan4me319-565x1024.jpg 565w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/plan4me319-570x1032.jpg 570w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Radiologist Dr. Pardeep Athwal will highlight MTMC Diagnostic Imaging expertise \u2013 explaining how these<br \/>\ntests are the first step toward saving lives, looking inside the body for clues into medical conditions.<br \/>\nThe workshop will also feature MTMC\u2019s team of Physical Therapy experts sharing insights into treatment<br \/>\noptions and follow-up when imaging tests reveal osteoporosis, a challenge faced by many in the senior<br \/>\npopulation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are specific types of exercises that are optimal for bone health, MTMC Physical Therapy Department<br \/>\nManager Sandy Buecher, DPT, MBA \u201cThere is no one exercise program that can work for everyone. A<br \/>\nphysical therapist can provide you with an individualized program that fits with your lifestyle, interests, and<br \/>\nmake sure you are neither over exercising nor under exercising based on your specific health needs.\u201d<br \/>\nDr. Athwal will talk about the variety of machines and techniques used to create pictures of the structures and<br \/>\nactivities inside the body. His topics include \u201cImaging Exposures \u2013 Myths and Truths,\u201d \u201cMammography,<br \/>\nBone Density \u2013 Check list for annual screenings\u201d and \u201cMRI and CT Scans \u2013 What are the differences and<br \/>\nwhen are they needed?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Timely imaging results are critical, so MTMC staff is available to read results 24 hours every day, seven days<br \/>\na week. Dr. Athwal notes, \u201cOur goal is to have a one day turnaround on all imaging. It\u2019s important that our<br \/>\nphysicians receive imaging results as quickly as possible so they can start treatments immediately. Their<br \/>\nsuccess depends upon us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Athwal joined the MTMC team in 2017 after completing his musculoskeletal fellowship at the University<br \/>\nof Utah Medical Center. He received his Doctor of Medicine at the St. George\u2019s University School of<br \/>\nMedicine; and completed his Internal Medicine Internship at the University Hospital of Brooklyn and his<br \/>\nDiagnostic Radiology residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center.<\/p>\n<p>A wide variety of speakers and resource materials have been featured since this workshop series was launched<br \/>\nnearly two years ago. When attending their first session, participants receive a free \u201cA Plan 4 Me\u201d binder in<br \/>\nwhich to organize reference materials distributed at each event.
