<\/p>\nWashington, DC…So the stock market and our country, from an economic standpoint, is doing the best probably it\u2019s ever done. We\u2019re hitting new highs again. We\u2019ve hit new highs, I guess close to, or over 100 times since I\u2019m President \u2014 from the time of the election. Unemployment numbers are the best they\u2019ve ever been by far. We have almost 160 million people working today in the United States. That\u2019s more than we\u2019ve ever had working in our country before.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re doing well on trade. We\u2019re doing well with China. Things are going good.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m bringing the First Lady right now. She\u2019s worked very hard on the opioid crisis. We\u2019re down about 17 percent from last year, which is pretty amazing. We\u2019re down 17 percent with the opioid problem. It\u2019s a big problem. It\u2019s a big addiction and we\u2019re handling it. The doctors are working with us. The labs are working. The clinics are working. The pharmaceutical companies are working with us. And we\u2019ve made a tremendous amount of progress.<\/p>\n

Q Mr. President, what do you plan to do about the subpoena for Don McGahn and other subpoenas that are expected from the Hill?<\/p>\n
THE PRESIDENT: Well, the subpoena is ridiculous. We have been \u2014 I have been the most transparent President and administration in the history of our country by far. We just went through the Mueller witch hunt, where you had, really, 18 angry Democrats that hate President Trump. They hate him with a passion. They were contributors, in many cases, to Hillary Clinton. Hate him with a passion. How they picked this panel, I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n
And they came up with no collusion and they actually also came up with no obstruction. But our Attorney General ruled, based on the information, there was no obstruction. So you have no collusion, no obstruction.<\/p>\n
Now we\u2019re finished with it. And I thought, after two years, we\u2019d be finished with it. No. Now the House goes and starts subpoenaing. They want to know every deal I\u2019ve ever done. Now, Mueller, I assume, for $35 million, checked my taxes, checked my financials \u2014 which are great, by the way. You know they\u2019re great. All you have to do is go look at the records; they\u2019re all over the place. But they checked my financials and they checked my taxes, I assume.<\/p>\n
It was the most thorough investigation probably in the history of our country \u2014 I think I read \u2014 where they interviewed 500 people.<\/p>\n
I say it\u2019s enough. Get back to infrastructure. Get back to cutting taxes. Get back to lowering drug prices. That\u2019s what \u2014 really, that\u2019s what we should be doing.<\/p>\n
Q Mr. President, will you fight the McGahn subpoena? Will you claim executive privilege?<\/p>\n
THE PRESIDENT: Well, we\u2019re fighting all the subpoenas.<\/p>\n
Look, these aren\u2019t like impartial people. The Democrats are trying to win 2020. They\u2019re not going to win with the people that I see. And they\u2019re not going to win against me. The only way they can maybe luck out \u2014 and I don\u2019t think that\u2019s going to happen. It might make it even the opposite. That\u2019s what a lot of people are saying. The only way they can luck out is by constantly going after me on nonsense.<\/p>\n
But they should be really focused on legislation, not the things that have been \u2014 this has been litigated \u2014 just so you understand, this has been litigated for the last two years, almost since I got into office.<\/p>\n
Now, if you want to litigate, go after the DNC, Crooked Hillary, the dirty cops \u2014 all of these things. That\u2019s what should be litigated because that was a rigged system. And I\u2019m breaking down \u2014 I am breaking down the swamp. If you look at what\u2019s happening, they\u2019re getting caught. They\u2019re getting fired. Who knows what\u2019s going to happen from now on, but I hope it\u2019s \u2014 I hope it\u2019s very strong.<\/p>\n
But if you look at \u201cdrain the swamp,\u201d I am draining the swamp.<\/p>\n
