Angels Camp, CA…This week, Dean Runyan<\/a> published its tourism numbers compiled for Visit California, and we showed a healthy pattern of continued growth for our tourism economy in Calaveras County.\u00a0 Calaveras Tourism is an economic heavy hitter. Preliminary data for 2018 shows an increase of 5% from $195.5 million to $205.3 million in overall tourism spending in Calaveras County.<\/p>\n

Visitors spent most on restaurants for a total of $69.3 million, showing a 3.2% increase over 2017. Lodging, the second largest commodity spend at $46.4 million increased 3% over the previous year.<\/p>\n

Tourism supported 2,750 jobs in Calaveras County in 2018, showing a steady increase since 2010.\u00a0 Calaveras County tourism generated $14.6 million in state and local taxes in 2018 and our local tourism industry earned $92.9 million, a 54.% increase over 2017.<\/p>\n
