After receiving a generous donation of land in Angels Camp HfHC intends to build approximately 100 brand new, code compliant homes and create a meaningful impact on the housing shortage in Calaveras County. The homes will range from one or two bedroom condos to two, three or four bedroom houses to accommodate needs of those ranging from senior citizens to young and growing families.<\/p>\n<p>Our community has been very supportive and the staff and Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Calaveras have been working very hard to make a significant positive impact in the County and we are so grateful and humbled to be recognized by Assemblyperson Bigelow as a Nonprofit of the Year,\u201d comments Scott Behiel.<\/p>\n<p>Nonprofits are often hidden in plain sight,\u201d explains <span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\">Jan Masaoka, CEO of the California Association of Nonprofits (CalNonprofits). <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\">\u201cCalifornia Nonprofits Day is an opportunity for our elected officials to celebrate the good work they see nonprofits doing in their districts, and for everyone to appreciate the collective impact of nonprofits in our communities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Additional Background<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\">California Nonprofits Day, now in its fourth year, was formally recognized by Assembly Concurrent Resolution 62, authored by the chair of the Assembly Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector, Assemblywoman Monique Lim\u00f3n (Santa Barbara), who will speak at the celebration luncheon. Senator Holly Mitchell will keynote the luncheon. The day is organized by Assemblymember Lim\u00f3n and CalNonprofits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to \u201cCauses Count,\u201d a 2016 <span style=\"color: #0563c1;\"><u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calnonprofits.org\/publications\/causes-count\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\">report<\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"> commissioned by CalNonprofits, the nonprofit sector is the 4<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"> largest industry in the state, employing nearly one million people. Each year, California nonprofits generate over $200 billion in revenue and bring in $40 billion in revenue from outside of California.
