<\/p>\nSonora, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Dept…A Sonora man has been arrested after attacking one of our deputies and a CHP Officer. Early yesterday morning a Sheriff\u2019s Deputy met with CHP Officers at a home on Nashua Road in Sonora to assist with the recovery of a stolen vehicle. 44-year-old Larry Vannatta was at the home and was wanted on several charges: child endangerment, felon in possession of firearms, and narcotics sales.<\/p>\n

Vannatta ran from the home and was found hiding in a nearby garage. When approached by the CHP Officer, Vannatta charged at the officer knocking him to the ground. Vannatta continued to attack the officer and deputy forcing them to use a taser, which had no effect. Vannatta also attempted to grab at the officer\u2019s belt and equipment. Additional deputies arrived and after some time were finally able to secure Vannatta into handcuffs.<\/p>\n
During a search, Vannatta was found in possession of nearly 12 grams of methamphetamine and the keys to the stolen vehicle.<\/p>\n
Vannatta, the Deputies, and CHP Officer were evaluated by medical personnel. Vannatta was then booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for his outstanding warrants and now faces additional charges of committing a felony while out on bail, resisting arrest, battery on a peace officer, burglary, attempted burglary and possession of a controlled substance for sale.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
