{"id":82832,"date":"2019-07-02T11:13:13","date_gmt":"2019-07-02T18:13:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/69.46.6.243\/?p=82832"},"modified":"2019-07-02T11:13:13","modified_gmt":"2019-07-02T18:13:13","slug":"more-than-half-a-billion-dollars-allocated-to-preserve-and-upgrade-highways-and-bridge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/?p=82832","title":{"rendered":"More Than Half a Billion Dollars Allocated to Preserve and Upgrade Highways and Bridge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sacramento, CA&#8230;The California Transportation Commission allocated more than $533 million for 120 State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP) projects throughout California, including more than $229 million for 42 fix-it-first projects funded by Senate Bill 1 (SB1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.<br \/>\nProjects allocated SB 1 funds at the June CTC meeting will improve 11 bridges, more than 346 lane miles of pavement, upgrade 547 congestion reducing devices, and repair 155 culverts to prevent flooding on highways.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/caltransm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"214\" height=\"203\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6861\" srcset=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/caltransm.jpg 214w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/caltransm-150x142.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 214px) 100vw, 214px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Area state highway projects allocated SB 1 funds include:<br \/>\n\u2022 Traffic Management Systems Upgrades for Interstate 5 (I-5), State Route 99 (SR99) and SR-120 in Stanislaus County: $6.3 million traffic management systems project<br \/>\nwill install Intelligent Transportation System elements that provide traffic monitoring<br \/>\ninformation along I-5 near the San Joaquin River Bridge, SR-99 at Spreckels Road, and<br \/>\nSR-120 at Guthmiller Road, McKinley Avenue and Van Ryn Avenue in San Joaquin<br \/>\nCounty.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Drainage Project Along State Routes 88, 49, 108 &#038; 120 in Tuolumne and Amador<br \/>\nCounties: $4.1 million drainage project will replace culverts and joints along SR-88 at<br \/>\nvarious locations in Amador County, and SR-49, SR-108 and SR-120 at various<br \/>\nlocations in Tuolumne County.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Drainage Project Along SR-99 and I-5 in Stanislaus and Merced Counties: $10<br \/>\nmillion project will replace drainage pumps along SR-99 from Mitchell Road in the city of<br \/>\nCeres to Kansas Avenue in the city of Modesto in Stanislaus County, and SR-59 at<br \/>\nChilds Avenue in the city of Merced in Merced County.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Drainage Restoration Projects in Stanislaus and San Joaquin Counties: $4.2<br \/>\nmillion drainage project will replace culverts at various locations along SR-99 and SR152 in Merced County, and I-5 and SR-12 in San Joaquin County.<br \/>\nState of California \u2022 Department of Transportation<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Tuolumne 120 CAPM East Buck Meadows Pavement Project:<br \/>\n$26.4 million pavement preservation project will upgrade guardrail, dikes, Transportation<br \/>\nManagement System elements, repair culverts, install bicycle friendly grates on drainage<br \/>\nsystems and improve 41.1 lane miles of SR-120 from Ferretti Road near the town of<br \/>\nGroveland and Buck Meadows in Tuolumne County to the Yosemite National Park<br \/>\nboundary.<\/p>\n<p>Other SB 1 funding included $20 million for the Trade Corridor Enhancement Program, which is<br \/>\ndedicated to projects that will improve truck corridors, border access, the freight rail systems,<br \/>\nthe capacity and efficiency of ports, and highways to better handle and move freight.<br \/>\nMore than $8.2 million of SB 1 funding was also allocated to the Local Partnership Program<br \/>\n(LPP) to help match investments that local communities have made in their region through<br \/>\nvoter-approved transportation tax measures.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the CTC approved an allocation of more than $22.9 million in SB 1 funds for 30<br \/>\nlocally administered Active Transportation Program (ATP) projects, which range from improving<br \/>\nsidewalks and bicycle lanes to creating safer routes to school for children who ride their bicycles<br \/>\nor walk to school.<\/p>\n<p>SHOPP is the state highway system\u2019s &#8220;fix-it-first&#8221; program that funds safety improvements,<br \/>\nemergency repairs, highway preservation and operational highway upgrades. A significant<br \/>\nportion of the funding for this program comes from SB 1.<\/p>\n<p>Since SB 1 was signed into law April 2017, Caltrans has repaired or replaced 115 bridges and<br \/>\npaved almost 1,500 lane miles of the state highway system.<\/p>\n<p>SB 1 invests approximately $5.4 billion per year to fix roads, freeways and bridges in<br \/>\ncommunities across California as well as strategically investing in transit.
