<\/p>\nMokelumne Hill, CA…The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is preparing to begin a project to install new stop signs on State Route 49 (SR-49) at the intersection with SR26 in Mokelumne Hill. When the new signs are installed, the intersection will be a 4-way stop intersection. Key elements of the project include: \u2022 installation a four-way stop intersection \u2022 installation of red flashing beacons and signs to alert motorists to stop ahead \u2022 installation of \u201c4-way stop\u201d signs.<\/p>\n

This is an interim traffic safety measure designed to improve traffic safety at this intersection to reduce the likelihood of broadside collisions.<\/p>\n
The signs will be installed on Saturday, July 27, 2019.<\/p>\n
Planning is underway to determine the long-range plan for intersection improvements at this
\nlocation. Community input will be solicited to help guide the development of the long-range plan.
\nThis work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents,
\nweather, availability of equipment, and\/or materials and construction related issues.
