<\/p>\nSan Andreas \u2013 On Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at approximately 2:37 PM the CAL FIRE Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit responded to a wildland fire located on Sandalwood Drive in the community of Forest Meadows, CA. The fire was contained to 0.14 acres and damaged an adjacent residence. During the course of the investigation a 25 year old female, Katrina Kelly, was identified as the person responsible for the fire. Katrina Kelly was arrested for violation of Penal Code Section 451(b) – Arson to an inhabited structure and Penal Code Section 454(a)(2) – Violation of PC 451 during a State of Emergency.<\/p>\n

California has been in a declared State of Emergency since March 22, 2019 due to tree die-off, worsening forest conditions, extremely dangerous fire risk and the deadliest and most destructive wildfires to occur in California’s history, which occurred in 2017 and 2018.<\/p>\n
The crime of arson carries a prison sentence of between 16 months and nine years. During a State of Emergency, the potential sentence for committing the crime of arson is increased.
