National Weather Service forecasts show temperatures should hover around the high 80s and low 90s, even at Pinecrest. There is a small possibility of thunderstorms and lightning, especially in the high country during the weekend. Lightning strikes can ignite trees on the forest and visitors should be aware of how to stay safe during thunder and lightning storms.

We urge safety and preparedness when traveling in wildland areas. Remember, Know Before You Go. Some areas in the Donnell Fire footprint on the Summit Ranger District remain closed to the public, so be sure you know where you can safely recreate on the forest and how to react if you find yourself on the forest near a fire. Check with the forest ranger staff or firefighters in your area to learn more.

The forest remains under high and moderate fire restrictions. Forest Order STF-16-2019-13 (Moderate restrictions) and Forest Order STF-16-2019-14 (High restrictions) prohibit campfires, cook stoves and smoking outside developed campgrounds, except in the developed recreation sites.

Camping:

· Campfire restrictions are in place.
