** ROAD CLOSURE **<\/p>\n

UPDATE: 2:23pm Alpine County Sheriff’s Office<\/span><\/a><\/span> California Highway Patrol has informed us that both lanes will reopen around 7 p.m. this evening. Currently the wait to get through the controlled traffic is brief.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
\nHighway 89 is closed from south of the Carson River Resort (2 miles south of Markleeville) to a point approximately 1 and 1\/2 miles north of Monitor Junction.<\/p>\n

A trailer with a piece of equipment on it has flipped over and is leaking fluids. CHP, Caltrans, Eastern Alpine Fire, California Highway Patrol and our office are on scene.<\/p>\n

Due to the hazardous fluids necessitating a cleanup, there is currently no estimation on when the road will open.<\/p>\n

The fluids are not running into the river, but into a culvert on the opposite side of the highway.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
