<\/p>\nSan Andreas, CA…On Thursday, March 26, 2020, Calaveras Public Health confirmed a new case of novel coronavirus or COVID-19. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the county is now three. This additional positive case is a Valley Springs resident who is currently receiving care outside of the county.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Immediately after being notified, Calaveras Public Health launched a case investigation. Public Health staff are identifying persons who may have had close personal contact with this individual, including any friends, family members or healthcare professionals, to assess and monitor them for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 illness. Close personal contacts identified during this investigation will be under quarantine.<\/p>\n
Calaveras Public Health will continue to monitor this development and the results will be released as new information becomes available. \u201cIt is expected that further cases of COVID-19 infection will be identified in Calaveras residents,\u201d said Dr. Dean Kelaita, Calaveras County Health Officer.<\/p>\n
Calaveras Public Health reminds the community to comply with the Governor\u2019s statewide order to stay at home. This includes avoiding all gatherings, non-essential travel, and practicing social distancing. People 65 years of age and older and those with chronic health conditions are at high risk of serious illness from COVID-19. They are advised to stay home, even if they do not have COVID-19.<\/p>\n
Social distancing or physical distancing helps stop or slow down the spread of disease like COVID-19:
\n\uf0b7 Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
\n\uf0b7 Create a space, at least six (6) feet, between people.<\/p>\n
