California now has 4,643 confirmed cases. More current numbers may be available from\u00a0<a title=\"CDPH LOCAL HEALTH SERVICES\/OFFICES web page\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdph.ca.gov\/Pages\/LocalHealthServicesAndOffices.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">local health jurisdictions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>4,643 \u2013 Positive cases<br \/>\n101 \u2013 Deaths (including one non-California resident)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>923 \u2013 Community-acquired cases<\/li>\n<li>3,720 \u2013 Cases acquired through person-to-person transmission, travel (including cruise ship passengers), repatriation, or under investigation.\n<ul>\n<li>This includes 73 health care workers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ages of all confirmed positive cases:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Age 0-17: 54 cases<\/li>\n<li>Age 18-49: 2,368 cases<\/li>\n<li>Age 50-64: 1,184 cases<\/li>\n<li>Age 65+: 1,016 cases<\/li>\n<li>Unknown: 21 cases<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Gender of all confirmed positive cases:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Female: 2,057 cases<\/li>\n<li>Male: 2,536 cases<\/li>\n<li>Non-binary: 0 cases<\/li>\n<li>Unknown: 50 cases<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Testing in California<\/strong><br \/>\nAs of 2 p.m. PDT on March 27, approximately 89,600 tests had been conducted in California. This includes the latest numbers California has received from commercial and private labs and the 22\u00a0<a title=\"Map of the California Public Health Laboratories  with COVID-19 Testing Capabilities\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdph.ca.gov\/Programs\/CID\/DCDC\/PublishingImages\/COVID-19\/COVID-19-CaliforniaMap-March18-01.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">state and county health labs<\/a>\u00a0that are currently testing. Commercial, provider and academic labs have increased testing capacity and are now reporting that data to the state. The biggest labs included in this count include Quest, LabCorp, Kaiser, University of California and Stanford.<\/p>\n<p>At least 25,192 results have been received and another 64,400 are pending.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How People Can Protect Themselves<\/strong><br \/>\nEvery person has a role to play. Protecting yourself and your family comes down to common sense:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Staying home except for\u00a0<a title=\"California Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response Stay at home except for essential needs web page\" href=\"https:\/\/covid19.ca.gov\/stay-home-except-for-essential-needs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">essential needs\/activities<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Practicing social distancing.<\/li>\n<li>Washing hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds.<\/li>\n<li>Avoiding touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.<\/li>\n<li>Covering a cough or sneeze with your sleeve, or disposable tissue. Wash your hands afterward.<\/li>\n<li>Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.<\/li>\n<li>Staying away from work, school or other people if you become sick with respiratory symptoms like fever and cough.<\/li>\n<li>Following guidance from public health officials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What to Do if You Think You&#8217;re Sick<\/strong><br \/>\nCall ahead: If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough or shortness of breath) and may have had contact with a person with COVID-19, or recently traveled to countries with apparent community spread, call your health care provider before seeking medical care so that appropriate precautions can be taken.<\/p>\n<p>More information about what Californians can do to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is available on the\u00a0<a title=\"California Coronavirus Response website home page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.covid19.ca.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">California Coronavirus Response website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>California continues to issue guidance on preparing and protecting California from COVID-19.
