{"id":9844,"date":"2015-09-06T08:19:12","date_gmt":"2015-09-06T15:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/69.46.6.243\/?p=9844"},"modified":"2015-09-06T08:19:12","modified_gmt":"2015-09-06T15:19:12","slug":"the-23rd-annual-bear-valley-triathlon-a-high-sierra-labor-day-weekend-tradition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/?p=9844","title":{"rendered":"The 23rd Annual Bear Valley Triathlon:  A High Sierra Labor Day Weekend Tradition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bear Valley, CA&#8230;The picturesque setting of Alpine County, California is the location of the exciting 23rd annual <a href=\"http:\/\/onyourmarkevents.com\/Applications\/2015BearValley.pdf\">Bear Valley Triathlon<\/a>.\u00a0 The popular central Sierra Labor Day Weekend tradition will be held on Sunday morning, September 6 (day before Labor Day Monday), at <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?tab=Xl\">Bear Lake<\/a>, in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bear-valley.com\/bear-valley-village\/\">Bear Valley Village<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9QS5KI7o3SQ\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Nestled in a beautiful mountain location, the triathlon course features a 600-yard swim (warm water, close to 70 degrees, wet suits are allowed, but not necessary); a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gmap-pedometer.com\/?r=3146920\">10.5-mile bike<\/a> (rolling, climbing loop course); and a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gmap-pedometer.com\/?r=3146920\">3.4-mile run<\/a> (rolling road).\u00a0 Air temperature will be approximately 70 degrees by <span data-term=\"goog_1630518964\">10:30 a.m.<\/span> The triathlon will conclude with the awards ceremony, raffle, and a great barbecue.<\/p>\n<p>Entry fee includes refreshments, T-shirt, awards, raffle ticket, awards, and post-race barbecue lunch with beer. The Bear Valley Triathlon entry fee is $75.00 advance and $85.00 race day. Team fee (three participants, registering at the same time), $200.00 advance and $220.00 race day. All participants must provide and wear a swim cap for the swim and an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cpsc.gov\/businfo\/regsumbicyclehelmets.pdf\">ANSI<\/a> approved bike helmet during the bike.<\/p>\n<p>The traditional On Your Mark Events\u2019 soapstone trophies will be awarded to the 1<sup>st<\/sup> overall male and female winners and etched glass trophies will be given to the masters overall male and female finishers. The top three finishers (male and female categories) age groups in ten-year increments to 70-years-old and over, will receive engraved medals. The top male, female, and co-ed teams triathlon teams will also be awarded medals.<\/p>\n<p>Race check-in and registration will open at <span data-term=\"goog_1630518965\">8:30 a.m.<\/span>, followed by the start-time at <span data-term=\"goog_1630518966\">10:00 a.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Bear Valley Village is located on Bear Valley Road, just off of Highway 4 in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bearvalley.com\/\">Bear Valley, CA<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.alpinecountyca.gov\/\">Alpine County<\/a>). Following the race, the awards ceremony and barbecue will be held around <span data-term=\"goog_1630518967\">1:00 p.m.<\/span>, lunch will be available to non-entrants for $10.00 \u2013 $7.00 for kids.
