Take advantage of this time by continuing to work on your homes defensible space. When burning yard debris during this time, TCU reminds residents that \u201cOpen Burning\u201d still requires practicing fire safety to avoid allowing your fire to escape your control which is a citable offence. Safe debris burning includes:<\/p>\n

\uf0b7 Staying in attendance of your fire until it is cool to the touch.
\n\uf0b7 Keeping your pile small and manageable and \u201cfeeding\u201d additional debris into your fire.
\n\uf0b7 Having a nearby water supply.
\n\uf0b7 Not burning on windy days.<\/p>\n

Burn permits will be required beginning May 1st, 2020. Due to the \u201cStay at Home\u201d order, CAL FIRE TCU has transitioned to a convenient, 24 hours a day 7 days a week, online burn permit website for residential dooryard burn permits. This allows property owners to comply with \u201cStay at Home\u201d orders. Property owners currently in possession of a previously issued permit should review safety regulations printed on the front and ensure their permit is still valid.<\/p>\n
The https:\/\/burnpermit.fire.ca.gov\/apply-for-a-permit\/ website is the preferred method of obtaining a permit. Applicants will watch a three-minute educational video, fill out an online application, print the permit and once signed the permit will be valid.<\/p>\n
Property owners requiring an alternate means of obtaining a permit are asked to call our headquarters office during normal business hours (Monday to Friday 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.) at 209-754-3831 for assistance.<\/p>\n
