Sonora, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Office…”On Sunday morning, just before 5 am, dispatch received a reported theft in progress call at Avery Muffler in Sonora. The reporting victim stated he was watching a man, later identified as 38-year-old Jason Peluso of Sonora, siphoning gas out of vehicles. The victim was able to use the business surveillance equipment to provide deputies with a description of Jason and his truck. Deputies responded and arrived on scene as Jason was trying to drive away from the business.

Deputies stopped and contacted Jason, who they discovered was on searchable probation. A search of Jason’s truck uncovered a gas can, siphoning hose, metal belonging to Avery Muffler, drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, and heroin.

Jason was ultimately arrested for felony violation of probation, petty theft, tampering with a vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.”
