San Andreas Resident Arrested for Kidnapping and Robbery

Angels Camp, CA…On May 22, 2020 at approximately 9:20 AM, the Angels Camp Police Department received a report of a 65 year old victim being threatened by another person with a hammer. Units from the Angels Camp Police Department and the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence and found that the victim was in the front yard with minor injuries and the suspect was inside the residence.

The victim declined medical attention and reported to officers that, 36 year old San Andreas resident, Jonathan Sullivan was involved in an argument with the victim that began the night prior. The victim stated that on the night of May 21, 2020, Sullivan was at the victim’s residence to visit another person that lives in the residence with the victim.

A fight between the victim and Sullivan began and Sullivan yelled at the victim with a hammer in his hand and hit some items on a table with the hammer. The argument continued and Sullivan put down the hammer and hit the victim on the face with his hands causing injury to the victim. The victim further reported that Sullivan told the victim to get in Sullivan’s vehicle and Sullivan drove him to a local bank and told the victim to withdraw money from the ATM. After obtaining money from the ATM, Sullivan returned the victim to his residence. Sullivan then left the area with the money the victim had withdrawn.

The victim reported he called for law enforcement assistance when Sullivan returned to the victim’s residence on the morning of May 22, 2020.

Officers entered the victim’s residence and located Sullivan. Sullivan stated he never hit the victim or made him withdraw money. Sullivan was arrested and booked in to the Calaveras County Jail for the following charges:

211 PC- Robbery
207(a) PC – Kidnapping
368(b)(1) PC- Elder Abuse
422(a) PC – Criminal Threats
3455(a)(4) PC- Violation of Post Release Community Supervision Terms
11377(a) HS- Possession of Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine
11364 HS- Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia
