Officer Involved Shooting Update…Domestic Violence Call ends with “Suicide by Cop”

Jamestown, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Dept…**Officer-involved Shooting Update** Just after 1 o’clock this afternoon, deputies responded to a home on Preston Lane in Jamestown for a domestic violence call. The man refused to leave the home and threatened to engage in a shootout with deputies. Investigators learned there was also an emergency protective order against him. When deputies convinced the man to come out of the home, he came out with what appeared to be a firearm.

Deputies initially used non-lethal projectiles to get the man to surrender, but he would not comply with the deputies orders. The deputies were forced to use their service weapons. The man passed away at the scene of the incident. Further investigation revealed the firearm the man was holding was a replica.

We are saddened by any loss of life and will continue the investigation. At this time, we are not releasing the man’s name because we are in the process of notifying his family.
