Ebbetts Pass Moose Lodge Served Almost 3,000 Free Meals During Covid-19 Meal Program

Arnold, CA…The Moose Lodge Free Lunch Program was started on March 23, 2020. The Co-Chairman, Patti Corcoran & Scott Freier, had a vision to offer a free lunch to our community which included a sandwich, fruit, potato chips and a dessert. They hoped to fill the void for anyone having a difficult time due to being out of work due to Covid-19. Lunches have been picked up at the Moose Lodge or we had drivers deliver to those who could not get out of their house.

The Moose Lodge also wanted to thank all our first responders and business that were open to help our community. The Moose Lodge has provided lunches to Ebbetts Pass Fire Department, CHP, Big Trees Market, Ace Hardware, Meadowmont Pharmacy, Dollar General, El Dorado Bank, Napa Auto Parts Store, Avery Transfer Station and many others.

The first day of the program they provided 34 lunches and on May 13 we provided 157 lunches. May 29th was the last day of our program and we had provided 2,795 lunches. It was rewarding hearing stories about how this lunch was the only meal that some would get that day. We are grateful that we could help our community.

We wish to thank our county supervisor, Merita Callaway, for her assistance in acquiring grants for our Lunch Program.
