Leah & Mia to Could be Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pets of the Week

San Andreas, CA…Meet Leah – a sweet, shorthaired torbie (tortoise shell tabby) with enormous green eyes. At only a year old, this sweet, gentle girl became a teen mom. Leah has been a wonderful mother, despite her young age and the toll nursing can take. Her kittens are now weaned and it’s time for Leah to become someone’s special kitty. Calm and quiet, she is on the reserved side and tends to wait for a human to approach and make the first move – after which she thoroughly enjoys being petted and gives affection in return. And should you be looking for a special pair of kitties, Leah’s sister Mia, impound no. A051413, is available too.

As with all cats available for adoption, Leah is up-to-date on her routine vaccinations and has been micro-chipped. She will be able to go home with you after her spay appointment on June 15.

Come visit Leah, impound no. AO51412, and other cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this kitty, please email Animal Services volunteer Cynthia at clpino@caltel.com, Kathy at kbandy.co.calaveras.ca.us or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Leah’s and Mia’s impound numbers above when making inquiries.

Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes during this pandemic. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
