West Point, CA…On June 20, 2020 Animal Services investigated a dog on skunk attack in the 2300 Block of Spink Road in West Point, CA. Three dogs killed the skunk and the owner called to report the incident. The skunk was sent to San Joaquin Public Health Laboratory for rabies testing on June 23, 2020. The test came back positive for rabies. All three dogs were current on their rabies vaccines and received rabies boosters from their veterinarian the same day as the event. The dogs have been placed on a mandatory quarantine as a precaution. If anyone believes their animal(s) may have come in contact with this skunk please contact our office at 209-754-6509.
