Attempts to Hide Drugs Prior to Entering Courthouse will Lead to Future Visits for San Andreas Man

San Andreas, CA…On June 19, 2020, Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies were on-duty providing security at the Calaveras Superior Court, when they observed a male subject exit a vehicle and head towards the Courthouse. While walking toward the Courthouse, the male subject detoured from the main path and placed something in the landscaping before entering the building. The deputies who observed this searched the area and discovered the male subject had hidden an object in the landscaping.

Further investigation revealed that the object was a toy doll, which is commonly known as a Nesting Doll. The doll contained numerous packages of methamphetamine.

Court Security Deputies promptly notified the Narcotics Enforcement Unit, who arrived swiftly from the Sheriff’s Office.

The male suspect left the Courthouse and walked to the area where he had deposited the doll, where Deputies promptly arrested him.

The doll and its contents of 9.6 grams of methamphetamine were taken into evidence.

Oscar Freer (age 35 of San Andreas) was booked into the Calaveras County Jail on charges of 11378 HS Possession of a Controlled Substance and for an existing Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear at Court on previous narcotics charges. He is being held with a bail of $30,000.00.
