Butte Fire Evening Update…71,780 Acres, 47% Contained, 233 Homes & 175 Outbuildings Destroyed, 4,885 Personnel, 2 Fatalities

San Andreas, CA…Today the opening of roads and allowing people back into many of the burned areas in the fire perimeter accelerated. Late this afternoon we checked in the Coroners office and fatalities are holding at two. The one off of Jesus Maria that we reported yesterday and the recovery of another fire victim today. Fire behavior remained minimal throughout the night helping crews continue to progress with perimeter control. The evacuations in Amador County have been reduced to an advisory, allowing residents to return to their homes. ***Damage Assessment teams have arrived and started evaluations of damaged and destroyed structures*** Road Closures: (Calaveras County) SR 26 from Mokelumne Hill to Ridge Road; Ridge Road closed to Railroad Flat Road; Railroad Flat Road closed to Mountain Ranch Road; Mountain Ranch Road closed to Hwy 49; Michel Road is closed. Additional Road Closures: Mountain Ranch Road East of Willow Creek Sheep Ranch Road at Fricot City Road Sheep Ranch Road at Mountain Ranch Road Railroad Ranch Road at Jesus Maria Swiss Ranch Road at Railroad Flat Road Jesus Maria Road at SR 26

    Evacuations:

    (Calaveras County) West Murray Creek/Murraydale Lane (entire street). Fricot City Road North of Sheep Ranch Road. Fricot City Road is closed 1 mile East of the intersection of Calaveritas Road and Fricot City Road. Fricot City Road is also closed in Sheep Ranch. The areas north along Sheep Ranch Road at Avery Sheep Ranch to the intersection of Morris Rd/Valley View Road. The entire area of Railroad Flat.

    Hwy 26 in Mokelumne Hill at Italian Vista to West Point all areas to include Glencoe, Westpoint and Wilseyville. Bald Mountain Road, Winton Road Blue Mountain Road, Mitchell Mill Road, Skunk Hollow Road.

    Evacuations Advisory:

    (Amador County) Canyon View, Fig Tree Lane, and Pondersosa Way; Tabeau Road south of Arrowhead to Amador Road, Ranch Drive and Aqueduct Grove Road. Hwy 88 from Ranch Road East to Tiger Creek Road (Red Corral and Buckhorn Areas).

    ***All previously mandatory evacuated areas being re-populated are still under evacuation advisory. The public is reminded that there are still emergency vehicles and personnel working in the area. Please use caution and remain alert to any changes in fire conditions***

    (Calaveras County) The corridor along Hwy 49 from the Amador County Line south to the city limits of Angels Camp and all areas east of Hwy 49 that were previously released are now under an advisory. The areas southeast of Calaveritas Road to Costa Road. The areas along Fricot City Road along the southside to Sheep Ranch Road. The areas South of Avery Sheep Ranch Road to Morris Road in Avery. The town of Murphys, Forrest Meadows, Avery and along the Hwy 4 corridor from Avery to Arnold, including the town of Arnold.

    REPOPULATION SAFETY ADVISORY

    On behalf of CAL FIRE Incident Management Team I, public safety is our main concern. As mandatory evacuations are being lifted throughout the affected fire areas, we want to remind the public that a safety advisory in still in effect. As residents return back into their homes, please be advised that an active fire still exists in the area and remain alert to any changes in fire conditions. Please use caution as emergency vehicles and personnel are still in the area.

    AS OF 9/16 AT 10 AM: REPOPULATION PHASE VI:
    Mandatory Evacuations Orders changed to Evacuation Advisories.

      All areas outside of the burn area (Please note: Due to access and safety issues, Mountain Ranch Road is closed East of Willow Creek)
      Areas inside the burn area North of Calaveras River. This includes the SR 26 corridor.
