San Andreas, CA…Meet Biscuit, a beautiful shorthaired gray and white tabby about seven years of age. Biscuit’s owner passed away and this poor kitty roamed her neighborhood until a kindly neighbor began caring for but could not keep her. The neighbor brought Biscuit to the shelter with a lovely note to Biscuit’s new family along with the kitty’s favorite rug and cat treats. Biscuit weighs in at a whopping nineteen and half pounds as her original owner thought it was funny to overfeed her and see how chubby she might get. Still, when given a choice between food and being petted, this sweet girl always prefers attention from humans and seems happy on one small can of cat food a day. Biscuit does have a slight limp – possibly from being overweight – but her daily chondroitin treats seem to help. We feel she would do best in a household without young children as she has a tendency to “love nip” when overly excited. Biscuit is also not particularly fond of other cats or animals so she needs a home where she can reign as queen and be showered with the love and care she deserves.
As with all cats available for adoption, Biscuit is up-to-date on her routine vaccinations and has been micro-chipped. Since she is already spayed, she can go home with you today!

Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes during this pandemic. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.
Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
