“Joey” the Eagle will be Soaring Again Soon Thanks to the Calaveras Sheriff’s Dept & Tri-County Wildlife

Valley Springs, CA…On 7/24/20 a Marine Safety Deputy working at Lake Hogan was flagged down by citizens. The citizens advised that they saw what appeared to be an injured bird on the Hogan shoreline. Our Deputy responded and located a juvenile Golden Eagle which appeared to be injured. The Deputy caught the injured Eagle and transported it by boat to the Hogan Headquarters, where he and Hogan Rangers met with Tri County Wildlife Care out of Amador County.

Tri County Wildlife Care took possession of the Eagle to provide it with medical treatment and assist in its recovery. When the Eagle is healthy it will be released back into the Hogan lake area where it was located. The Eagle has been nicknamed “Joey”.
