Proactive Policing & High Risk Vehicle Stop Leads to Stolen Vehicle Recovery & Arrest

Sonora, CA…Early this morning, Deputy Yue was patrolling the area of Tuolumne Road. While traveling on Tuolumne Road, Deputy Yue conducted a registration check on the vehicle in front of him. Deputy Yue learned the car was stolen. A high-risk vehicle stop was conducted. The car continued a short distance before eventually complying with the emergency lights and sirens. The driver, 34-year-old Melissa Ball of Jackson, and the passenger, 33-year-old Justin Pipitone of Ione, were ordered from the vehicle.

A search of the stolen car revealed miscellaneous drug paraphernalia items. It was also determined Justin had thrown drug paraphernalia out of the passenger window in attempt to destroy evidence.
Melissa was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and evading. Justin was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and destruction of evidence.
