Sacramento, CA…Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) released the following statement on the recent passing of former Republican Senator Tom Berryhill: “I am saddened to learn about the passing of my friend Tom Berryhill who was a true statesman, a small business owner, and a farmer from Calaveras County. Business and farm groups considered Tom a friend and staunch supporter as did many on both sides of the political spectrum.
“Tom’s famous annual Capitol Frog Jump was always popular and brought members, legislative staff, and media outlets together on the Capitol lawn for an afternoon of good old-fashioned fun. The yearly Capitol event was an unofficial kick-off to the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee which was also an opportunity for Tom to share a part of his district’s personality with Sacramento.
“After leaving the Senate, Tom’s dedication to public service continued as voters elected him to serve as a Stanislaus County Supervisor. My condolences and prayers go out to Tom’s family during this difficult time,” said Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove.
