Calaveras County Pets of the Week! You Can’t Buy Love But You Can Adopt It!

San Andreas, CA…They say you can’t buy love but you certainly can adopt it. This photo is representative of the many adorable, spunky and playful kittens currently at the shelter – we’ll leave the naming to you. Can’t decide which one to adopt – why not adopt a pair?  It truly is easier to raise two than a single kitten because they’ll keep each other company when you can’t be there and grow up to be the best of friends. Besides being up-to-date on their routine vaccinations and micro-chipped, also guaranteed to bring a smile. The little charmers pictured are already altered and able to go home with you today!

Come visit these kittens along with other cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this kitty, please email Animal Services volunteer Cynthia at clpino@caltel.com, Kathy at kbandy.co.calaveras.ca.us or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509.

Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes during this pandemic. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are very much needed as well. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would appreciate your help caring for shelter animals or in the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
