Murphys, CA ~ The Calaveras Winegrape Alliance joins with all of Calaveras County in thanking the firefighters and emergency personnel, many of whom are still on the job or on fire lines, for their heroic efforts in fighting the Butte Fire. Like everyone, we mourn for the lives taken by all the fires, and the loss of homes and property suffered by so many. We are so grateful that the Highway 4 corridor is untouched by the fire and that our wineries and tasting rooms are open and operating. The 22nd Annual Calaveras Grape Stomp will go on as planned on October 3rd in Murphys Park. To support those left in need after the fire, proceeds from the sale of Grape Stomp T-Shirts will be donated to the Calaveras Community Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund. And, as always, all proceeds from the Silent Auction will be donated to local non-profit groups, many of whom are also involved in disaster relief.
Throughout the Butte Fire, it has been so inspiring to see the people come together and help one
another. Looking forward, the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance is hopeful that the worst of the
disaster is behind us, and we look forward to helping Calaveras County restore, rebuild, and
renew our wonderful community.
